Instruction

Instruction is the mission of our schools today. I view it as a machine, maybe a race car, that is fueled by culture and the time invested in those relationships. But there are so many more parts, pieces, and systems that have to be aligned and none of which can be ignored. For our teachers, they have to be supported, with a curriculum they can innovate on, the training and mentorship to reach their potential, and the reduction of non-instructional barriers so that they can focus on teaching. For student, instruction has to be engaging, personalized, and authentic.

I've been fortunate to see first hand what professional educators can do when they are given the tools they need: curriculum, training, and time to focus on what actually matters. Many lament focusing on school report cards and accountability measures, but when you focus on instruction that is engaging, personalized, and authentic the scores start climbing.
